s18- Trade Deadline [WB8]

The trade deadline is only days away and the Scouts are looking to do some moving and shaking with their roster. The Scouts have valuable free agents in Nicklas Lidstrom and Bobby Holik who could help any team with their push for a playoff spot or in their pursuit for the Stanley Cup. The biggest obstacle with Holik is his $14,000,000 cap hit, but otherwise, Holik has been fantastic in all facets of the game and could be a solid top six option for any team with cap space, plus, Holik has excelled at special teams, too. As for Lidstrom, like most of the defenders across the league saw his offence zapped, but still plays an all-world level of defensive game, and could but an ideal pick up for a team looking upgrade their defense. Lidstrom has the ability and tools to excel at each level of the game, including leadership.

Other trade options for the Scouts to move are Rostislav Klesla, who is young defensive defender and potential free agent. Jonas Ronnqvist, a live body. The other two options are Corey Crawford and Joffrey Lupul, who are both arbitration eligible players. Crawford has played a decent to excellent crease this season. Some pundits have wondered if the Scouts might keep Crawford and try to trade Lundqvist, but it seems quiet on the trade front when talking about Lundqvist. As for Lupul, he is solid bottom six piece with the ability to develop into a decent top six piece, the Scouts might option to keep with their thin forward group, but it is possible Lupul could be available for the right team who is looking to adding youth and can develop players.

Other trade bait for the Scouts is their farm team, Wyoming Cowboys. The Cowboys have several players with pro/farm eligible and have long term contracts, well other players could add some depth to another team heading to the playoffs.
