S18- Puke for Luke (®)

2021-05-09

Since falling 5-1 to the Flames only a few games ago, the Scouts have collected points in their last four games. The streak started with a 1-1 tied with Coyotes, and over the last three games the Scouts must win games against the Canadiens, Sharks, and Flames. The Scouts are hoping to continue their winning ways as the Scouts head out on the road for the next five of six games.

This season, the scouts have struggled on the road this season with only one win in six games, and have been outscored 18-13. As for at home, the Scouts have won five or eight games and are outscoring their opponents 24-21. The Scouts will need a better effort on the road moving forward, as it could be the difference between making the playoffs or drafting first overall, in the search for the next big thing to hit Kansas City, or as the fans have been calling the season thus far… Puke for Luke, in a reference to the club’s poor play at times and the fanbases growing desire to draft Luke Schenn. With Scouts only 14 games into the regular season and already spending some time either in the basement or around the basement of the league, the possibility of drafting Luke Schenn is possible.

As for the Scouts moving forward in the season, after spending the fist ten games spinning their wheels on the start line, the Scouts have positioned themselves only a point out of eight place in the Western Conference, and only six out of the division lead. For the Scouts to continue winning or at least put their slow start behind them, Henrik Lundqvist will need to be better in the crease, as Lundqvist only has one win in seven starts and a GAA over 3.40, but continues to have a save percentage around his career norm of .904. Another key piece for the Scouts moving forward will to continue their defensive-mind style of play, the Scouts lead the league with the lowest amount of shots allowed on goal, but also have the lowest amount of shot on goal, as well. If the Scouts can either add secondary scouring to the line, or someone on the roster starts having a career season, it could go a long way into the Scouts either making or missing the playoffs this season.

Time will tell how the Scouts season progresses but so far this season, the Scouts have been satisfactory on most nights, terrible on some nights, and amazing on other nights. More consistent play would go along way.
