S17 - The Greek Flop [WB4]

2021-02-06
For those who are not really knowledgeable in french, there is a specific term used by people from France that means kill, slaughter. That word is «zigouiller», and it reflects the way I feel when I look at the performance of our 3rd line center… Mike Zigomanis ( you see the parallel ). Mike is in his 2nd full time big boy league season . He was previously playing really well in Orlando for the Thunder in the AHL, he was not lighting it up but at a .75 points a game. His first season in the VHL he played good in the third line center spot with 24 points in 57 games played after he was fire in the AHL with 31 points in 25 games. We were satisfied with his performance after a first season and being placed on the spot light of the 3rd line and playing second unit PP.

Hopes were kinda high in the organisation for his second year since he made the team out of the camp. But he is, putting it truthfully, playing like shit. He only has 2 points in 41 games with a -9 and a 43,9% in the dot… he was recently replaced by Chris’s favorite Nick Antropov. The higher-ops thought that giving him less responsibility on his line, that things were going to get easier in his head…but the only that got better is Antropov’s face-off pourcentage that sits at 57.1%.  Big Nick his having a poor stat line with 1 point in 41 games but at least he his winning face-offs….Zigomanis is winning nothing at all, in fact he never won shit even in 1995 when he participated in the world renowned Quebec Pee-Wee Championship with the North York team, Mike was still a loser then (he should have played with the South Shore Kings instead with Mr.Whitney, he would have won).

The lightning made the decision this week to look for a trade partner to take the 1.6$ million a year contract of the Greek Loser Zigomanis hoping for him to turn his career around. We found a place for him in the midwest were his «talents» will certainly be more appreciated (more details to come after the NTC is cleared). To take his place on the center spot of the third line, starting in the next few games, will be our own young stud Travis Zajac. He has been playing really good since he arrived in Orlando with 24 points in 18 games and a 49.5% on the face-off circle. Rumours as it that he will take a few lessons this week-end with the Capitain Neidermeyer to teach him a few tricks on defence and the Russian Rocket Kovalchuk will teach some slap shot techniques to perfect his scoring touch. We really hope that all the progression he has shown in Orlando with travel with him in Tampa (and with a few AP).

We would like to give our best to Mike on his next endeavour but we are anxious for him to clean his locker and take the plane, so the new blood can give a boost of moral on the 3rd line ( and the 2nd too with the new comers from the midwest…..)
